Photos of Charles McClung Price and Eliza (Snodgrass) Price (she was first married to a Mr. Northum, who died soon after birth of one child, Mary Catherine - Eliza's maiden name was Snodgrass). These were copied on the front porch of Mrs. Eulas (Hall) Andrews in Cecil, AR back in 1991. She had two very small, color-tinted pictures, printed onto a metal backing, so my copy macro-lens came in handy. I have done my best to remove scratches and restore some of the original color.

Jesse Dewitt Price, Charles & Eliza's son, married Mary Orpha Elizabeth Burke. In an early family photo taken in Gillette, Arkansas County, AR about 1911 are parents Jesse and Orpha with three children; Rufus, Vinnia and Mitchell. Orpha is pictured in Cecil, Franklin County, AR, with five of her nine children; shown here are William Mitchell Price, Rufus Price, Jesse Dewitt Price, Jr., Chester Price and her only daughter, Vinnia Price.

Joe Burke Price was drafted at Camp Chaffee, AR. After basic at Camp Robinson CA, Joe spent almost two years in the Aleutian Islands, (Joe is second from right) mostly on Adak and Attu. The classic photo sent home by a decorated war veteran. He was injured by artillery fire while repelling the Japanese in the Aleutians, earning him the Purple Heart and was returned to a hospital in Concord, CA for treatment and discharge. While hospitalized, he met a young college student who was a volunteer for the USO, Elaine Mae Elizabeth Ericson. A few months later they were married in Concord and moved to join brothers Hector and Chet in the family home construction business in Santa Paula, CA.

Troy D. Price at Price Springs, located northwest (MAP) of the family cemetery in Franklin County, AR. A stone-capped spring box still protects the springs. Water from here is said to be "copperous" and good for the health according to local tales. The water is clear, cold! and has a slightly sweet taste. Troy and wife Stella (Fisher) Price were toasted with water from Price Spring at their 50th wedding anniversary!

Your Hosts, Jeff and Peggy Price.
